The Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar, Cross River State has clinched the “Best Airport Cleanliness award” for the year 2016 amongst the airports nationwide as well as among all airports managed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.

The Award which was organized by the Nigerian Ministry of Aviation, commended the efforts of MEIA  in changing the face of the terminal amongst its contemporaries in other states.

The Chief Executive Officer for NIGAV, Fortune Idu, stated: "The air terminal has kept up consistency throughout the years, and with the coming of a  new Manager, Mr. Ayodele Sunday, has prompted to far and away superior performance in administration of assets, in term of cleanliness."

In the mean time, the air terminal had won the best "Household Airport" grant in the year 2015, demonstrating that the present best performance in cleanliness is not a flux.

Ayodele disclosed that new aircraft are as of now situated to begin operations into the Airport before the finish of the first quarter of the year 2017.
