Just days after a river in Russia inexplicably turned like blood, another red river has been witnessed in Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh.

According to the reports in The Sun UK, the streets of Dhaka is currently flowing  with river of water that has been confirmed to actually be blood.

The blood reportedly came from the slaughter of over 100,000 animals by the residents of the city in the recent celebrations of Sallah.

The celebration always witnesses mass killing of mainly four-legged farm animals, especially sheep, rams and cows among others, in Dhaka.

Bangladesh contains a 90.4 per cent Muslim population of around 148.6million people as at the estimates of 2011.

The celebrations in Dhaka earlier this week was preceded by a heavy monsoon rains on Tuesday, September 13, leading to flooding of the city’s poor drainage system. The result is streets running with blood and entrails of dead animals mixed with flood water.

The Sun UK quoted Atish Saha, a Dhaka-based artist, as telling The Guardian UK: “I felt I was walking through a post-apocalyptic neighbourhood. ‘To be honest, I was scared. It was an image of mass violence that shouldn’t ever be experienced.” He added: “It made me speechless.”

Walking on the streets of Dhaka has become a challenge for residents because of the river of blood everywhere.
