Athletico trashed out Arsenal from the European League title race with a lone goal and an Aggregate of 2-1 home and away.

There will be no better ending for coach Arsene Wenger than him winning the europa cup, but as things went out tonight, his hope became dashed as his boys couldn't play any better than the Athletico in the semi finals: he will leave the Emirates without having lifted a European trophy during his epic reign. And with the knowledge that Arsenal lost here because of the shortcomings he has failed to tackle.

No doubt The team played well between two opposite  boxes but could not Scale through in Atletico’s nor protect their own goal post consistently.

The goal they conceded was as cheap as that of the first leg in Emirate, and their finishing was not plausible: they got in promising positions but barely got off a shot. Arsenal were not good enough.

Atletico really displayed an excellent performance tonight and they deserve to be in the finals, where they will face either  of Salzburg or Marseille, whose semi-final has gone to extra-time.
On a more sad note for the Gunners  - and France - Laurent Koscielny suffered a torn Achilles tendon and will be out of action for months.
