A Twitter user shared this story of a man criticized for moving into his woman's house after marriage and the tweet has sparked a debate online.

Marriage is equality, and a platform of shared values inheritance and belief, it's a culture on its own that creates it's own dos and don'ts. That's why it is not right to judge to use a marriage as a yardstick for another.

Union is based on mutual agreement, I feel but I stand to be corrected anyway. That ones the two agree, there is no issue with a man moving to his woman's house after marriage provided that the man is capable of building or owning a house. but preferred to save cost by using what's available.

Although, our culture totally disagree with this ideology simply because we believe it's going to turn the man to a subject of the woman,  as part of the man's power in Africa is to send his wife packing to her Family's house. But in a situation whereby the house is for the woman, then who sent who? .

I think that point of view is holistic and negative to think you're gonna send your packing one day.

Some people feel no true African man should move into a woman's house. Others said it's acceptable if the woman stays humble and doesn't disrespect the man as a result.

But the poster pointed out that men do not accord women that same respect when they move into their house, instead, at the slightest provocation, the husbands ask their wives to leave.
