Facebook and it's board has resolved in rewarding people who reports any case of misuse of data app developers. This announcement was made after the launch of the Data Abuse Bounty (DAB), which is targeted at rewarding any form of misuse of users information

The social media platform said it is committed to launching this, innovation as part of its efforts to quickly uncover potential abuse of user’s information.

The DAB, which is inspired by the existing bug bounty programme, which Facebook uses as an arsenal to tackle the issue of security of data, will help the company identify violations of its policies.

The Head of Product Security, Facebook, Mr Collin Greene, said:

We’ll review all legitimate reports and respond as quickly as possible when we identify a credible threat to people’s information.  If we confirm data abuse, we will shut down the offending app and take legal action against the company selling or buying the data, if necessary. We’ll pay the person who reported the issue, and we’ll also alert those we believe to be affected.”

According to Sir Collin, this programme will reward people with first-hand info and proof of cases where a Facebook platform app collects and transfers people’s dentals to third parties to be sold, stolen or being used for as scam or to influence high number of political votes.  “Just like the bug bounty programme, Facebook will reward based on the impact of each report.
