Police have captured a 35-year-old lady for professedly stealing a month old child in Akwa Ibom State, southeast Nigeria.

The suspect who was Identified as Mrs Peace Chukwuemeka was said to have stolen the child in the wake of tranquilizing the mother.



She was paraded on Tuesday close by other suspected culprits at the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in Uyo, the state's capital.

Admitting to the wrongdoing, Mrs Chukwuemeka said she originated from Abia State to visit her sister in Uyo and was enticed to take the youngster to spare her 10 years childless marriage.

On their part, parents of the rescued baby, Mr and Mrs Mohammed Ibrahim, portrayed their ordeal while their kid was absent.

Other suspects paraded additionally admitted to the kidnapping of a four-year-old kid.

Parents of the kid were full of praise to God for the return of their baby.

Others were additionally paraded for their involvement in different wrongdoings extending from armed robbery, stealing of car batteries batteries etc.

Tending to the journalist, the representative for the Police Command, Cordelia Never, said that the arrest took after careful examination by authorities of charge.

She consoled Akwa Ibom State inhabitants of the order's dedication to keeping the state crime free, particularly amid the coming happy season.
